Nothing represents a country better than its official flag.
The first flags originated way back in the 1000 B.C in Egypt. Yes, it’s a primitive version of the flags that we see today, but the purpose remains the same. Some are made in wood or metal, usually printed with military insignia.
Flags are frequently used today to represent a cause, for example, the rainbow flag of the LGBT community and the Jolly Roger flag of the pirates (that means you’re screwed). Countries also adapted their own flags in the early 1800’s.
So, do you know what’s the reason behind why your country used that color scheme and symbols? Here are some examples.
National Flags And The History Behind It

The Sun in the middle of the white triangle denotes the country’s independence and its rays is represents the eight provinces that revolted in the Spanish occupation.
The three stars denotes the geographical divisions of the country, mainly Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
This is the only flag that changes it’s appearance in times of war. In times of peace, the blue part is on top, and when it’s war time, the red part is shown on top.
The Land Down Under’s flag is blue in color and features the Union flag that represents British colonization.
Right under the Union flag, you can see a seven pointed star which represents the states and one territory.
At the right half of the flag, you can see the stars that represents the Southern Cross constellation, which is visible in every Australian state and territory.
Quite a history for a flag.
The French tricolor is adapted in times of the French Revolution. The colors of the flag was inspired by the cockades that the militia wore in times of the uprising, which was colored blue, white and red.

The 50 stars denotes the 50 individual states of the country. The red color represents hardiness and valor, the white represents purity and the blue represents vigilance, perseverance and justice.
